Dr. Loucinda Dampier was born and raised in Moultrie, Georgia. Knowing from a young age that she wanted to become a surgeon, she left high school a year early to pursue her educational goals. While technically a high school senior, Dr. Dampier was also a freshman at the University of Georgia. In June 1995, she returned to Moultrie to graduate from high school as the Salutatorian of her class. The very next morning, she returned to the University of Georgia to complete her finals, entering her sophomore year of college.
Dr. Dampier graduated from the University of Georgia in March 1998. While awaiting the start of medical school, she worked at Colquitt Regional Medical Center as a nurse’s aide. She began medical school at Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia, where she served as the MUSM Female Representative to the President’s Advisory Committee and was actively involved with Habitat for Humanity in Macon.
Upon graduating from medical school in 2002, Dr. Dampier began her residency in General Surgery at the University of Florida – Shands Jacksonville. There, she completed both her surgical internship and residency, gaining extensive experience in general, trauma, and vascular surgery. During her chief residency, she served as Co-Chair of the Shands-Jacksonville Resident Graduate Medical Executive Committee and was a member of the facility’s Graduate Medical Executive Committee. She also served for three years on the Shands-Jacksonville Performance Improvement Committee, where she learned valuable aspects of hospital administration and regulation.
Dr. Dampier completed her residency in June 2007 as a Board-Eligible General Surgeon. She passed the written surgical boards in August 2007 and the oral boards in January 2008, becoming board-certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery in January 2008.
Following her residency, Dr. Dampier moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, to pursue a fellowship in Cosmetic Surgery. She trained at the prestigious Smith Plastic Surgery Institute, where she performed over 500 surgical procedures and hundreds of non-surgical treatments, including Botox, fillers, lesion removals, scar revisions, and vein injections.
Dr. Dampier comes from a close-knit Southern family. In honor of her grandfather—one of her greatest mentors and supporters—she chose to name her surgical practice “Dampier Surgery Center.” She, along with her father, grandfather, and siblings, all share the initials “L.R.D.” and are proud to see the family name carried into a meaningful family business.
Dr. Dampier is married to Adam Sawinski and is the proud mother of twins, Anna Catherine and Andrew Cole. Together, they enjoy supporting their daughter in competitive dance and their son in travel baseball and soccer. As a family, they love hiking, rafting, fishing, ziplining, and traveling to America’s National Parks. They are members of First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Leland R. Dampier, Jr., the son of Leland and Francis Dampier, was born in September 1951 in Moultrie, Georgia—a small town in South Central Georgia. He grew up in the nearby rural community of Berlin, where he attended grade school. As a young boy and throughout high school, he worked in the tobacco and vegetable/produce fields, played sports, and sang in the chorus. He graduated from Moultrie High School in 1969 and later attended Middle Georgia Junior College. He earned his degree from Georgia Southern University (GSU) in 1974.
On the very afternoon of his graduation from GSU, he married his wife of 41 years, Patricia Hitt Dampier. Together, they raised three children—Loucinda, Leslee, and Trey—all of whom have gone on to successful careers as a surgeon, a science curriculum specialist educator, and a family practice physician, respectively.
After graduation, Mr. Dampier began his career in education, teaching music, language arts, and science while completing postgraduate work for certification in middle grades education with an emphasis on language arts. He went on to earn both a Master’s and Specialist Degree in School Administration and Supervision. He served in various leadership roles, including Assistant Principal, Principal, and Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of Colquitt County Schools, before retiring with full benefits in 2003. During much of that time, he also worked on the family farm—originally purchased by his great-great-grandfather in 1890—alongside his father.
In 2008, when his daughter, Dr. Loucinda Rochelle Dampier, launched her medical practice, she asked her father to serve as her office manager. Together, they established The L.R. Dampier Cosmetic Surgery Center, PLLC. Dr. Dampier appointed Mr. Dampier as President and Controller of her limited liability company. His duties include managing the fiscal affairs and day-to-day operations of the business side of the practice.
Mr. Dampier continues to maintain a home in Georgia and shares ownership of the family farm.
Patricia Hitt Dampier, daughter of David and Margie Hitt, was born and raised in the small town of Sugar Hill, Georgia. She attended Gwinnett County public schools and graduated from North Gwinnett High School in 1970. Patricia went on to attend Georgia Southern University, where she studied music and English, graduating on the morning of August 15, 1974. That very afternoon, she married her husband of 41 years, Leland R. Dampier, Jr.
Following graduation, Patricia began a career in public education, teaching third grade for 28 of her 30-year tenure. During her time with the Colquitt County Board of Education, she earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She is the proud mother of three accomplished children—Loucinda, Leslee, and Trey—who have gone on to careers as a physician, educator, and physician, respectively.
Today, Patricia serves as the Receptionist and Records Clerk at The Dampier Surgery Center, owned and operated by her daughter, Dr. Loucinda R. Dampier.
